The PSOE of Seville has confirmed the death of Gonzalo Crespo, who was the Councillor for Major Festivals in the city council of Seville. Spokesperson Antonio Muñoz highlighted his career as a public servant.

The PSOE of Seville announced this Saturday the passing of Gonzalo Crespo, who served as Councillor for Major Festivals in the Andalusian capital during the socialist mandate. Crespo, 68, had been linked to the party since his youth and also had a political stage in Barcelona, where he was a councillor in the City Council of the Catalan capital.

The spokesperson for the socialist municipal group, Antonio Muñoz, was the one to communicate the news through a message on social media. "Today Seville loses a public servant with a long career," wrote Muñoz, who emphasized that Crespo "worked for the city and promoted a more orderly and planned management of its main celebrations."

Gonzalo Crespo took on the delegation of Major Festivals at a time when the city council was seeking to modernize events such as Holy Week and the April Fair. During his management, measures were implemented to improve coordination between brotherhoods and the city council, as well as to ensure safety at large events.

The current mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, has also expressed his condolences. "My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the remembered Gonzalo Crespo, as well as to all his colleagues in the corporation," stated the popular mayor, who highlighted the dialogue-oriented nature of the former councillor.

Born in Seville in 1958, Crespo began his political career in Barcelona, where he was a councillor in the City Council of the Catalan capital. There, he developed an intense work with the Andalusian community, especially with those who "had to build their lives outside our land," as Antonio Muñoz recalled.

His son, Gonzalo Crespo, is one of the promoters of the sports project Caja 87, a basketball club that has recently achieved promotion. The family has received numerous expressions of affection in recent hours.

The PSOE of Seville has issued a statement highlighting Crespo's "commitment and dedication," describing him as "a defender of Andalusia without fanfare." The party has thanked him for his work and conveyed its support to the loved ones of the deceased.

The funeral will take place next Monday at the San Esteban parish in Seville at 11:00 am. The wake will be set up at the SE-30 funeral home starting at 5:00 pm this Sunday.
