The Sanlúcar la Mayor Town Hall activated the Municipal Emergency Plan at level 0 on Friday due to the entry of the Niebla forest fire into its territory. The fire is advancing northeast, away from populated areas.
The Sanlúcar la Mayor Town Hall activated the Municipal Emergency Plan at level 0 on August 14 at 11:06 AM, after the forest fire originating in Niebla reached the northernmost area of its municipal term. The affected area, a mountainous zone, is very far from populated centres and the industrial platforms of solar plants.
According to the Town Hall, there are no registered residents or homes in that area, so the activation has been adopted as a preventive and coordination measure. The current evolution of the fire continues northeast, moving away from the populations of Sanlúcar la Mayor, and the eastern flank, which remains stable, is still a considerable distance from the scattered nuclei.
The mayor, Raúl Castilla, has stated that the activation of the plan means that the municipality's security and emergency services, including the Local Police and Civil Protection, remain on alert and ready to act in response to any changes in the fire's evolution. Sanlúcar la Mayor Civil Protection is already activated at level 0 and has alerted teams from other groups in the province, who could join the operation if necessary.
The Town Hall maintains permanent contact with emergency services and is awaiting instructions from the Advanced Command Post, in which it will participate from this afternoon if necessary. The preventive activation does not imply evacuations or danger to the population, officials insist.
The flames remain far from urban centres and their trajectory points northeast, so citizens are asked to remain calm and to inform themselves only through official channels. The Town Hall will continue to provide updates on the situation as official data becomes available.
The Town Hall has expressed gratitude for the work of the Local Civil Protection Group and all security bodies working to control this complex forest fire. For any inquiries, the numbers for Local Police (900 878 048) and the Sanlúcar la Mayor Fire Station (085), as well as the 112 Emergency Services of Andalusia for emergencies, are reminded.
