The Nigerian forward completed his fifth session of the week at the Ciudad Deportiva on Wednesday, while the clubs finalise the details of his transfer to the Italian side.

Sevilla FC continues its pre-season amidst uncertainty regarding Akor Adams' departure. The Nigerian forward participated in his fifth weekly training session under the orders of Luis García Plaza on Wednesday, while his transfer to Venezia awaits the final details to become official. The attacker, who continues to train normally with the group, could travel to Italy in the coming hours to sign his new contract.

A drawn-out saga

The talks between Sevilla and Venezia are well advanced, but the agreement has not yet been finalised. According to sources close to the operation, the Italian club is confident that Adams will be able to fly to Cracow for a medical examination before the Sevilla delegation travels to the Polish city. The 24-year-old Nigerian has not been included in Luis García Plaza's plans for the upcoming season, and his departure seems to be a matter of hours.

Meanwhile, the forward continues sharing the dressing room with his teammates at the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios Sports City. The situation, although tense, has normalised in the day-to-day activities of the team, which is facing a pre-season with multiple changes in the squad.

More departures from the Nervionense squad

In addition to Adams, other players are awaiting their future. Tanguy Nianzou is finalising his move to Lille after passing medical tests, and did not train with the group on Wednesday. The French centre-back, who joined Sevilla in 2022, has not managed to establish himself and is seeking minutes in Ligue 1.

In the infirmary, Juanlu Sánchez is the latest injury casualty: a muscle strain in his left quadriceps will keep him out for several weeks. Alfon, Marcao, and Castrín also did not train with the group, as they are involved in their respective recoveries. They are joined by Federico Gattoni, Fábio Cardoso, and Joan Jordán, who are not in the coach's plans and are training separately. Rafa Mir, for his part, is seeking a move that has yet to materialise.

In total, 11 first-team players were absent from training, forcing Luis García Plaza to rely on youth players to complete the sessions. The situation reflects a summer of changes at Sevilla, which is looking to lighten a squad with many pieces to relocate.

An uncertain future for Adams

Akor Adams joined Sevilla in the winter transfer market of 2024 from Montpellier, but never fully adapted. Last season, he only scored three goals in 28 matches, far from expectations. His transfer to Venezia, which competes in Serie A, would give him a new opportunity in Italy.

The Italian club, which was promoted last season, is confident that Adams can contribute his physical strength in attack. For Sevilla, his departure would free up wage space and allow for other signings. Meanwhile, the Nigerian remains a Sevilla player, albeit with his bags packed.

The fans, eager, hope that the saga is resolved soon so the team can focus on preparing for the season. The next friendly, against Cracow, will be the first test for a squad in full transformation.
