The Town Hall of Mairena del Alcor and the Junta de Andalucía are coordinating a total investment of €1,005,845.14 in the educational centres of the municipality, which includes thermal comfort, digital classrooms, and improvements in the institutes.
The mayor of Mairena del Alcor, Juanma López, and the future head of Education, Isabel Marín, met this Wednesday with the territorial delegate for Education, Gloria Guillén, to review the investments and actions planned for the schools and institutes in the area. The meeting served to specify a package of measures that exceeds one million euros.
The largest portion corresponds to the digitalisation of classrooms, with €757,088.97 allocated for the provision of digital classrooms in the centres. This is followed by the Thermal Comfort Programme, with an investment of €168,040.83, which includes the installation of awnings and gardening work valued at over €60,000, in collaboration with the Junta de Andalucía.
The secondary education institutes will also receive funding through the Improve your centre programme, with an allocation of €57,527.46 for activities and improvements, along with €23,187.88 for inventory materials. In total, the investment amounts to €1,005,845.14.
The meeting also addressed the agreement with the unions regarding school ratios, which will particularly affect the Early Childhood stage. The Early Childhood classrooms will have a reference ratio of 22 students, with specific measures for centres that exceed this number and have at least 14 units.
Additionally, resources for Therapeutic Pedagogy (PT) will be strengthened with the addition of three additional professionals, allowing for more individualised attention for students with special needs.
Another highlighted point was the follow-up on the expansion project of the IES María Inmaculada, considered a priority to increase the centre's capacity. According to sources, work is underway to update the project costs so that it can be put out to tender as soon as possible.
The mayor, Juanma López, positively assessed the coordination between the Town Hall and the Junta de Andalucía. In his statements, he asserted that these investments
“represent a step forward in continuing to improve educational spaces, the resources available, and the attention our children and young people receive”.
The Town Hall will monitor all actions to ensure that the investments materialise and that the centres in Mairena del Alcor have facilities that meet current needs.
