The Town Hall of Mairena del Alcor is bringing clean and inclusive mobility workshops to secondary schools during European Mobility Week. This Thursday, the initiative arrives at IES María Inmaculada after passing through primary schools.
Secondary students in Mairena del Alcor are exploring this week the clean mobility alternatives available in the municipality. The Town Hall has taken its awareness workshops to IES María Inmaculada, after the activity visited primary education centres.
In these sessions, students learn about options such as the pedestrian and cyclist walkway of Camino Zapata, the introduction of accessible buses, or the future transport interchange in El Prior. The aim is for young people to become familiar with more sustainable and inclusive mobility.
The mayor, Juanma López, explained why this campaign is aimed at the younger generation.
It is essential to convey these options to young people to explore and delve into new mobility pathways. They also teach us about their needs, which helps us identify aspects that we sometimes find harder to grasp.
The mayor also mentioned the improvement works being carried out in areas such as El Chorrillo. The workshops analyse how mobility changes before, during, and after these works, which, according to the Town Hall, will have a positive effect throughout the municipality.
This activity is part of the European Mobility Week, a campaign that aims each year to raise awareness about the use of public transport, cycling, and walking. In Mairena del Alcor, the initiative started in schools and is now extending to secondary schools.
