Alcalá de Guadaíra starts the school year with 5,783 students and works in schools

A total of 5,783 students from Early Years, Primary and Special Education have started classes this Thursday in the twenty schools of Alcalá de Guadaíra, along with the San Juan de Dios and Molinos del Guadaíra centres. Last week, 838 children aged 0 to 3 years began at the nursery schools.

The 2026-2027 school year is already underway in Alcalá de Guadaíra. This Thursday, September 10, 5,783 students from the second cycle of Early Years, Primary and Special Education have started classes in the twenty schools in the area, in addition to the specific centres San Juan de Dios and Molinos del Guadaíra. The previous week, the youngest children began: 838 children aged between 0 and 3 years in the nursery schools.

The mayor, Ana Isabel Jiménez, has wanted to convey her congratulations to the entire educational community. In her statements, she emphasised the commitment of the City Council to public education, which is reflected in the improvement of the school network and other support initiatives.

"The municipal commitment to public education is not only reflected in actions within the network of public schools, but also in parallel initiatives, such as support for educational development projects, grants for extracurricular activities, for coexistence, against absenteeism and school dropouts, or the Academic Merit Awards, which make Alcalá a leader, unmatched in our surroundings, in investment in education, a fundamental pillar of well-being and the elimination of inequalities"

The Education delegate, Pablo Chain, also expressed gratitude to the professionals in the centres and the families.

"I thank the educational community for the enthusiasm with which they start the school year and the effort made in recent weeks to open the doors to students, as well as the interest with which professionals carry out this important work throughout the year, which goes beyond the transmission of knowledge, providing students with values of effort, teamwork, solidarity, equality, empathy, and overcoming challenges"

Chain also highlighted the work of the Ampas and the collaboration of families, and recalled the financial support from the City Council through nominative and competitive grants, as well as ongoing communication with the management teams.

"There is continuous communication with the centres and the willingness of professionals, knowing that in the Education Delegation we always have our hands extended to help them in everything we can"

For this school year, the plan for reforms, improvements and maintenance of Early Years and Primary centres includes several actions. The most notable is the investment of €98,000 in roofs, pavements, towers and walls of the CEIP Pedro Gutiérrez, a regionalist building from 1928. Interventions will also take place in the playgrounds and exterior walls of the CEIP Manuel Alonso.
