Every Tuesday in July and August, the Dragon Bridge Park in Alcalá de Guadaíra hosts 'Searching for Oz', a free theatrical route that has already filled its first sessions. A hundred locals enjoyed the premiere.
The magic of Oz has landed in Alcalá de Guadaíra. The theatrical route 'Searching for Oz', an adaptation of the classic set along the banks of the Guadaíra, has become the grand premiere of Noctaíra 2026. Every Tuesday at ten in the evening, the Dragon Bridge Park is filled with characters, humour, and fantasy for all audiences.
In the first session, around a hundred people followed the yellow brick road — transformed here into paths of gravel — and experienced an immersive adventure with views of the Alcalá Castle and the Dragon Bridge itself. The delegate for Culture and Tourism, Christopher Rivas, and the delegate for Natural Monuments, Luisa Campos, accompanied the attendees in this free experience.
A theatrical walk through the banks of the Guadaíra
The route takes place in the access area to Retama, next to the head of the Dragon. Participants delve into a story where Dorothy and her friends come to life among the trees and with views of the river. The route is designed for both young and old to enjoy equally, combining nature, theatre, and surprises.
According to Rivas, this is “a route thought out and designed for all audiences, capable of entertaining both young and old, allowing everyone to enjoy a privileged environment with views of Alcalá Castle and the Dragon Bridge, once again placing two landmarks of the city's tourism in the spotlight of Noctaíra's programming.”
How to participate in 'Searching for Oz'
The activity is completely free, but requires prior reservation. Tickets can be obtained on the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council's ticketing website, one week in advance of each performance. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and insect repellent to fully enjoy the outdoor experience.
The performances take place every Tuesday in July and August, always at 22:00 hours. The meeting point is the access area to Retama, next to the head of the Dragon. A unique opportunity for the locals and visitors to rediscover the park in a magical way.
This initiative is part of the Noctaíra programming, which this summer promotes cultural leisure in the municipality's natural spaces. With 'Searching for Oz', Alcalá de Guadaíra demonstrates that theatre can leave the halls and become a nighttime adventure for the whole family.
