The municipality of Los Alcores unveils lighting with 118,884 low-energy LED lights for the festival on August 15, which includes 37 arches, 22 lampposts, and 140 garlands.
The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has completed the installation of festive lighting for the Virgen del Águila festival, which is celebrated this Saturday, August 15. The setup, entirely composed of low-energy LED technology, totals 118,884 points of light distributed throughout the city centre.
The decoration spans from the Sanctuary of the Eagle to the Plaza del Perejil, and also includes Alcalá and Orti streets and Santa Clara. In total, 37 illuminated arches featuring the emblem of Mary, 22 lampposts, and 140 garlands have been installed, along with special lighting on the façade of the City Hall.
The delegate for Major Festivals, Rocío Bastida, has highlighted the work done to adorn the city, which is complemented by floral decorations and blue and white flags at various central points. Bastida noted the special care given to the municipal façade,
“from where the mayor, Ana Isabel Jiménez, will await the arrival of the patron saint to receive her as she deserves, and from where she will depart to accompany the Virgin to Plaza Cervantes.”
The City Council has activated the Glorias II Plan since August 6, a coordinated effort with the Council of Brotherhoods and Guilds to ensure the proper conduct of events in honour of Santa María del Águila Coronada. This plan involves various municipal departments, as well as security forces and cleaning and traffic services.
Schedule and route of the procession
The main events will begin on August 15 at 8:00 AM with the Principal Function of the Institute in the esplanade of the Sanctuary of the Eagle. In the evening, at 9:00 PM, the procession of the Virgin will take place.
The route will start from the Sanctuary and continue down the Santa María slope, Sánchez Perrier street, Plaza del Perejil, Plaza del Duque, City Hall, Nuestra Señora del Águila street, Clarissa convent, Santa Clara street, Alcalá and Orti, Plaza del Derribo, and the Santa María slope, with entry expected at 00:45 AM.
The religious activities will culminate on Sunday, August 23, with the Campaign Mass at 8:00 AM in the esplanade of the Sanctuary, followed by the exposition of the Patroness for a devout Besamanos.
