The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has requested that Endesa conduct the necessary studies and investments to prevent supply cuts affecting several areas of the municipality. The Urban Habitat delegate, David Delgado, met with company representatives to address this issue.
The City Council of Alcalá de Guadaíra has taken a firm step to tackle the recurring power cuts affecting several neighbourhoods. The Urban Habitat delegate, David Delgado, met last Thursday with representatives from Endesa to demand an investment plan to put an end to the interruptions in electrical supply.
During the meeting, the electricity company detailed the actions already underway and those planned for the coming months. The plan includes improvements to the distribution networks throughout the city, with special attention to the most affected areas.
Priority actions in Beca and Antonio Mairena
Endesa is currently working in the Beca area and on Avenida Antonio Mairena, where they are intervening in a medium voltage line whose installations also affect Rabesa and the surroundings of Parque Centro. These works are key to stabilising the supply in one of the areas with the most incidents.
Additionally, maintenance work is being carried out at the Transformation Centre located at the José Manuel Lara Editor Library, as a complement to the line that runs through San Francisco. Work is also being done on the channeling and improvement of the Retama line.
Endesa's plan includes a diversion of an electrical line in Pinares de Oromana and a comprehensive action in the San Rafael neighbourhood. All of this is part of a programme to improve transformation centres and low and medium voltage lines throughout the municipality.
The City Council will expedite permits
The City Council has committed to expediting work permits so that Endesa can carry out the investments as soon as possible. “We will provide all the facilities for the work to be carried out without delay,” stated David Delgado, who insisted on the need for the company to renew and modernise the installations in all districts.
The delegate positively assessed the meeting, as “various issues raised by the residents have been addressed.” Delgado emphasised that the goal is to “minimise the occurrence of these cuts” and ensure a stable supply.
“We will provide all the facilities for the expediting of the permits for these works, while at the same time we ask that Endesa carry out all the investments in the city’s districts, to renew, update, and modernise all the installations in Alcalá,” declared the delegate.
Power cuts have been a constant complaint among the residents of Alcalá de Guadaíra, especially during the summer months when consumption spikes. With this plan, the City Council hopes that the inconveniences will be significantly reduced.
Works have already begun in several areas and will extend over the coming months. The City Council has asked residents for patience while the improvements are carried out, which it considers “essential” for modernising the city’s electrical network.
