The La Rinconada City Council has launched the Youth Council, a new participation body for young people aged 16 to 30, aimed at channeling their proposals and improving municipal youth policies.

The new Youth Council of La Rinconada is now a reality. The City Council, through the Youth and Childhood Department, has created this active and permanent participation body so that the young people of the municipality can inform themselves, express their concerns, and debate proposals that improve their quality of life. The initiative aims to strengthen youth participation and turn ideas into concrete proposals that reach the municipal level.

A bridge between youth and the City Council

The Youth Council will function as a bridge between young people and the City Council, promoting dialogue, active listening, and commitment to the social, cultural, and community development of La Rinconada. The Youth and Childhood delegate, Mercedes Bueno, has emphasized that "the Youth Council represents a strong commitment to listening to our young people and making them protagonists of the present and future of La Rinconada."

Bueno highlighted that "we want them to know that their ideas matter, that they have a real space to participate, and that the City Council is willing to work alongside them to build a more dynamic, inclusive municipality that meets their needs." The Council will meet regularly at least once a quarter, although extraordinary meetings may be called depending on arising issues.

Three working groups by age

Young residents of La Rinconada aged 16 to 30 years can be part of the Council. Participation will be organized into three working groups: ages 16 to 17, 18 to 25, and 26 to 30, to ensure that the needs and interests of each life stage have a specific space for debate and proposal.

The groups will work on specific topics and will convey their proposals to the Council, which will be responsible for forwarding them to the Youth Department. According to Bueno, "the council seeks to include young people with different experiences, different ages, different perspectives, but with a common youthful voice. We need participants eager to contribute, listen, and build alongside others."

Functions and how to participate

In addition to channeling the concerns of the young population, the Council will have among its functions promoting equality, driving initiatives for coexistence, evaluating municipal actions aimed at youth, and fostering associationism and active participation. Joining the Council requires submitting a completed application form along with the corresponding identification document.

Applications can be collected in person at the Youth Centre or requested via email. The department will accept applications throughout the year, creating a pool from which the body will draw in case of vacancies. With this initiative, the City Council reinforces its commitment to citizen participation and consolidates a new channel for youth to actively engage in municipal life.

For more information, interested parties can contact the La Estación Youth Centre, call 954793900, or write to informacionjuvenil@aytolarinconada.es. They can also request the guide through an online form provided by the department.
