The Sevillian cultural cycle returns from July 16 to 22 with three free concerts in the Mudejar courtyard. The programme includes jazz, Brazilian music, and soul.

The Palacio Marqueses de la Algaba hosts the eleventh edition of the Noches de Verano cycle starting this Thursday, one of the most established cultural events of the Sevillian summer. The Mudejar courtyard of the Renaissance building transforms each year into an outdoor stage that brings together music from various traditions, with flamenco as the common thread. The programme kicks off on July 16 and runs until July 22, featuring three concerts with free access upon reservation.

Three nights of music in the Mudejar courtyard

The cycle begins this Thursday, July 16, with a performance by Padilla Siblings, who will play New Orleans hot jazz from the 1920s and 30s. The group revives the sound of early 20th-century New Orleans jazz bands, with a repertoire full of rhythm and energy. The concert will start at 21:30, and entry is free, although reservation of invitations is necessary through the municipal website.

On Tuesday, July 21, it will be the turn of Julia Vargas Trío, who will bring music from Brazil from Rio de Janeiro. The trio will offer a journey through Brazilian rhythms, from bossa nova to samba, in an intimate format that promises to transport the audience to the streets of Rio. This event, also at 21:30, maintains the same system of free entry with prior reservation.

On Wednesday, July 22, the cycle will close with IO & Friends, featuring a repertoire that fuses soul, blues, pop, and jazz. The Sevillian band, known for their soulful covers, will put the finishing touch to this edition with a concert that promises to resonate throughout the palace courtyard. All performances begin at 21:30, and invitations can be reserved from Monday to Thursday starting at 10:00, with a maximum of two tickets per person.

How to obtain free tickets

Reservations for invitations are made exclusively through the municipal website, where tickets for the following week's concerts are made available each week. The system allows for up to two tickets per concert until the courtyard's capacity is reached. The delegate for Tourism and Culture, Angie Moreno, has highlighted that "we want those who stay in Seville during the summer, as well as those who visit us, to find a varied and quality cultural programme every week, spread across some of the city's most representative heritage spaces."

The Palacio Marqueses de la Algaba, located in the San Gil neighbourhood, is one of the most emblematic buildings of Sevillian heritage. Its Mudejar courtyard, with arches and plasterwork, offers an unparalleled setting for outdoor concerts. The eleventh edition of Noches de Verano adds to the city's summer cultural offerings, which also includes the Noches en los Jardines del Real Alcázar cycle, featuring 63 concerts until September 19.

More cultural activities in Seville

In addition to the concerts at the Palacio Marqueses de la Algaba, the cultural programme of the Seville City Council includes guided tours of the Royal Artillery Factory on Wednesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 17, at 10:00. During the tour, visitors can see the exhibitions Hierve el huerto, ¡oh, oh!, by Irene Infantes, and You will sleep and dream with the song of the flowers, by Raquel Algaba. Workshops related to these exhibitions will also be offered at 11:30.

On Friday, July 18, at 10:00, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition Masterpieces of Sevillian Painting in the Lower Chapter Hall of the Seville City Hall. Finally, until July 30, the exhibition History and Culture of the Gypsy People can be visited at the Cultural Factory. Interested parties can check the entire programme on the municipal website and reserve free activities in advance, as capacity is limited.
