The Cobre Las Cruces Foundation reopens its Industrial School with a course in Metallurgical Installation Operations. It offers 20 free spots for unemployed individuals from Guillena, Gerena, Salteras, and La Algaba, with 300 theoretical hours and 200 practical hours.
The Cobre Las Cruces Foundation has opened the registration period for the new edition of its Industrial School, a training programme for employment that this time focuses on the course of Metallurgical Installation Operations. The initiative is in collaboration with the Business School of the Chamber of Commerce of Seville and offers 20 free spots aimed at unemployed individuals from Guillena, Gerena, Salteras, and La Algaba, the four municipalities where the CLC mining complex is located.
The registration period will remain open from September 15 to September 30. Classes will begin on October 19. Interested individuals can formalise their application via email at formacionindustrial@camaradesevilla.com or on the Industrial School's website.
The curriculum combines 300 hours of theoretical training and 200 hours of practical training in companies within the sector, allowing students to apply the knowledge acquired in a real work environment. The aim is to enhance employability in the mining-metallurgical installation context and respond to the demand for specific profiles posed by the industrial sector in the province of Seville.
During the course, topics such as boiler mechanics and welding, adjustment mechanics, electromechanics, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, maintenance and repair of engines, maintenance machinery, and work with special risks will be covered. Modules on sampling for chemical analysis in mining activities, drilling operations, cutting and blasting, occupational risk prevention, and environmental management are also included.
The selection of participants will assess the training and skills of the candidates. Although the programme is primarily aimed at unemployed individuals, a portion of the spots is reserved for active workers interested in improving their employment. Additionally, there is a specific focus on promoting greater female presence in the mining-industrial sector.
To participate in the selection process, it will be necessary to present the ID card, a certificate of residence in one of the four mentioned municipalities, proof of unemployment status, and the minimum required qualification: vocational training cycle of Intermediate or Higher Degree (FP1 or FP2) or Baccalaureate.
Since its inception in 2014, the Cobre Las Cruces Industrial School has organised seven editions of specialisation courses, with an average employment insertion rate of 65%. In total, nearly 1,900 training hours have been delivered, and over 1,500 hours of professional internships have been managed, benefiting more than 140 individuals from the surrounding municipalities.
The Cobre Las Cruces Foundation, established in 2010, has invested over 10 million euros to date in socio-economic, educational, cultural, and environmental development initiatives in its area.
