Seville's oldest festival returns from July 21 to 26 with the opening speech by historian Jesús Pozuelo and a poster by María Tapia. The Altozano will host Luitingo, Cantores de Híspalis, and a flamenco night in tribute to Nano de Jerez.

Triana is already preparing for one of its grand weeks. The Velá de Santa Ana 2026 will take place from July 21 to 26 and will turn the banks of the Guadalquivir into the epicentre of the festivities. The neighbourhood will be adorned, the booths on Calle Betis will take shape, and the locals are finalising the details of a tradition that began in the 13th century.

Luxury opening speech and author poster

The kick-off will be on Tuesday, July 21 with the opening speech by historian and communicator Jesús Pozuelo. He is not just any speaker: Pozuelo is an expert on the history of Triana, and his words promise to move the attendees. The poster for this edition is designed by María Tapia, the artist who created the poster for the Seville Spring Festivals in 2022. Her work, according to sources from the City Council, captures the essence of the neighbourhood and the evening.

The Velá de Santa Ana is considered the oldest festival in Seville, with origins dating back to the time of Alfonso X the Wise. Each year, it gathers thousands of people around the river, in an event that blends devotion, music, and tradition.

Music for all tastes at the Altozano

The Altozano will once again be the grand musical stage. The programme kicks off on Wednesday, July 22 with Luitingo, accompanied by El Charro de Triana. On Thursday, July 23, it will be the turn of Cantores de Híspalis, who will celebrate their 50 years of career on stage. Friday, July 24 is reserved for a grand flamenco night in tribute to Nano de Jerez, featuring artists such as Montse Cortés, La Tana, José Acedo, El Perla, Antonio Pollito, José Méndez, and Manuel Junquera.

On Saturday, July 25, Las Nietas de Santa Ana will take the stage, a show dedicated to the female talent of the neighbourhood with Silvia Pantoja, Rocío Díaz, La Flaka, and Pilar Astola. The closing event, on Sunday, July 26, will be led by Los Alpresa, who will bring a golden touch to a week of live music.

Cucaña, fireworks, and tradition

One of the most anticipated moments is the cucaña, which will take place every afternoon in the Guadalquivir river. The bravest will try to reach the prizes placed at the top of a greased pole, in a competition that brings laughter and excitement among the audience. At night, the fireworks on Sunday will light up the sky of Triana to bid farewell to the evening.

The Gala de los Trianeros will be the central event on Sunday, a tribute to the people and entities that keep the essence of the neighbourhood alive. All this in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the province of Seville and beyond each year.

For attendees, the recommendation is to arrive early, especially on weekends, and to use public transport or park in designated areas. The City Council of Seville is reinforcing bus and metro services to facilitate access to Triana.

“The Velá de Santa Ana is the festival for all Sevillians, a meeting with our roots and an opportunity to enjoy summer in the streets,” municipal sources state.

The Velá de Santa Ana 2026 promises to be unforgettable. With a varied musical lineup, centuries-old traditions, and a unique atmosphere, Triana is preparing to experience one of its most special weeks. The locals are already counting down the days.
