The municipal transport company will label several vehicles with the slogan 'TUSSAM moves with you to save lives #Donasangre' to raise awareness among Sevillians during the summer months.
This summer, the urban buses of Seville will become solidarity loudspeakers. TUSSAM has launched an awareness campaign to promote blood donations, coinciding with the time of year when the reserves of the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre usually decline. The initiative aims to leverage the reach of public transport to connect with all neighbourhoods of the capital.
The agreement has been signed by the Mobility delegate and president of TUSSAM, Álvaro Pimentel, and the territorial delegate for Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía, Silvia Pozo. Both administrations are collaborating to highlight a health need that intensifies in July and August, when donations drop by up to 30% compared to the annual average.
The campaign is titled “TUSSAM moves with you to save lives #Donasangre” and will be visible on various vehicles in the fleet. The image designed for the campaign features a map of Seville and several routes inspired by the bus lines. All these routes converge on the name of a person who donates blood or needs it, represented by a full or empty drop of blood.
In addition to the labelling on the buses, the agreement includes the dissemination of the campaign through TUSSAM's social media, its website, and its mobile application. The goal is to expand the reach of the message among the public and remind that a single donation can save up to three lives.
According to data from the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, an average of 250 donations are needed daily in the province of Seville during the summer to maintain reserves at optimal levels. However, the number often falls short due to increased travel and the closure of donation points in educational and business centres.
With this initiative, the City Council of Seville and the Junta de Andalucía aim to reinforce blood reserves during the summer, taking advantage of the daily visibility of urban buses as a tool for awareness and solidarity to encourage Sevillians to donate blood. Interested individuals can check the nearest donation points through the website of the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre or on TUSSAM's mobile application.
