The City Council of Seville is expanding the route of Tussam's CJ1 line from Monday, September 28, which connects San Bernardo with Isla Natura in Palmas Altas. The route gains two stops, increasing from three to five, with the aim of serving the new residents in the southern area.
Buses on the CJ1 line of Tussam will from next Monday, September 28 circle the Isla Natura development in Palmas Altas, travelling along Santorini and Barbados streets. The modification of the route, approved by the City Council of Seville, adds two stops to the existing three, raising the coverage to five stopping points in the residential area.
Specifically, two new stops have been established on Santorini street and three on Barbados street. This measure responds to the demographic growth in this sector of the southern part of the city, where housing occupancy has progressively increased since the line was launched on January 7.
The Mobility delegate and president of Tussam, Álvaro Pimentel, framed the action within the municipal government's commitment to public transport. "The mayor José Luis Sanz's commitment to public transport is an undeniable reality supported by daily management. The record of over 90 million users recorded last year demonstrates that when the City Council offers a fast, useful, and high-quality public service, the people of Seville respond by using it," he stated.
Pimentel provided the number of passengers on the line since its launch: "Since its inauguration on January 7, the CJ1 line has already transported 84,660 passengers. This extremely high volume of new users is not a coincidence; it shows that Tussam's planning works and that residents are responding," he emphasised.
The Mobility official insisted that the goal is to anticipate the needs of the new neighbourhoods. "With this new expansion of the CJ1 line, we continue to work with a clear model: to anticipate the needs of new neighbourhoods, such as Palmas Altas, and structure the city to offer the best service to the residents moving to this large area of urban growth," he highlighted.
The CJ1 maintains its head stop at San Bernardo and its usual stops at Prado de San Sebastián (Avenida de El Cid), Paseo Las Delicias, Avenida de la Palmera (Bueno Monreal), Padre García Tejero (Heliópolis), and Isla Natura. The service operates as an express line, with fewer stops to increase speed in travel between the south of the city and the centre.
The schedule remains unchanged, from 6:00 to 23:30. Tussam allocates two vehicles for the morning shift and another two for the afternoon shift, resulting in frequencies of between 28 and 30 minutes. The daily offer is 70 trips (35 each way) and 5,600 seats (2,800 each way).
Transfers with Cercanías, Metro, Metrocentro, and other Tussam lines remain at San Bernardo and Prado de San Sebastián. At Paseo Las Delicias, connections can be made with lines 3 and 6 towards Los Remedios, Triana, the north of the city, and the bus station at Plaza de Armas. At Padre García Tejero (Heliópolis), lines 2 and 34 also connect.
