Seville City Council will set up 23 tents with activities and t-shirt distribution for children along the route of La Vuelta, which arrives in the city on September 9.
The Seville City Council is finalising preparations for the arrival of La Vuelta on September 9, a day that will turn the Andalusian capital into the centre of international cycling. The Youth and Education delegation has organised a programme of activities and t-shirt distribution aimed especially at children, which will take place between 16:00 and 18:00 along the race route.
The initiative aims to involve families in the race's passage and continue the prior distribution of t-shirts carried out in the city's districts, which, according to the council, was very well received. The delegate for Youth and Education, Blanca Gastalver, explained that with this action they want the youngest to be the stars of a special day for Seville, cheering on the cyclists and enjoying the sporting atmosphere on the street.
“We want the youngest to also be the stars of this very special event for Seville. The arrival of La Vuelta is a unique opportunity for our boys and girls to experience cycling, sport, and the city in a different way,” Gastalver stated.
The City Council will set up 23 tents and distribution points along the urban route, with two entertainers at each one to liven up the wait for fans. Of these points, 21 will be located in iconic places along the race route, from San Jerónimo and the La Cartuja area to Triana, Los Remedios, Paseo de las Delicias, and Paseo de Colón.
Among the planned locations are calle Medina Galnares, next to the Parish of San Jerónimo; avenida Concejal Alberto Jiménez Becerril, both in front of number 27 and at the corner with the Barqueta bridge; Torneo with San Laureano; Ronda de Triana; plaza San Martín de Porres; Santa Fe with Blas Infante; Virgen de Luján next to the Pepe da Rosa garden; Paseo de las Delicias at the Costurero de la Reina, the bus stop, and San Telmo; Jardines de Cristina and Paseo de Colón.
Gastalver insisted that the success of the t-shirt collection in the districts demonstrates the interest of Seville residents in participating in this sporting event, and encouraged families to come to the route to experience the arrival of La Vuelta and show the city's support for the runners.
“The success of the t-shirt distribution in the districts shows how eager the people of Seville are to be part of this great celebration,” the delegate highlighted.
The day of September 9 will mark a milestone for the city, which for a few hours will be the stage for one of the major events on the global cycling calendar. Traffic disruptions and expected crowds recommend that attendees arrive early at the activity points to enjoy the atmosphere and secure one of the t-shirts.
