Granada, Seville and Córdoba top the ranking of the most booked Spanish destinations for summer holidays, according to a report by Civitatis. 89% of Spaniards are keeping their travel plans.

The three Andalusian capitals have become the epicentre of national tourism this summer. This is reflected in the latest report from the Civitatis platform, which ranks Seville as the second most booked Spanish city for the summer holidays, just behind Granada and ahead of Córdoba, which takes third place.

The study, based on bookings made by Spanish travellers, reveals that 89% of Spaniards plan to take at least one trip this summer, a figure slightly lower than last year but still very high. In this context, the Andalusian cities are leading the way.

Andalusia, the most in-demand region

The ranking compiled by Civitatis places Andalusia as the autonomous community with the greatest tourist prominence this summer. Three of the top four positions are held by Andalusian cities: Granada, Seville and Córdoba. They are followed by Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Barcelona, Toledo, Oviedo, Vigo and Málaga.

In the case of Seville, national travellers have shown particular interest in the tour of the Alcázar, the Cathedral and the Giralda, one of the country's most emblematic monuments. Guided tours of the Santa Cruz neighbourhood and boat trips along the Guadalquivir also stand out.

“Domestic tourism is always a success for Spaniards. Granada, Seville and Córdoba prove this every summer: they are cities that surprise even those who already know them,” said David Fernández, Head of Communications & PR at Civitatis.

The appeal of monuments and cultural experiences

Among the most booked experiences by Spaniards in Seville are guided tours of the city's main monuments. The Cathedral and the Giralda, along with the Royal Alcázar, are the two star attractions, with a notable increase in bookings compared to the previous summer.

Additionally, free tours remain one of the most sought-after activities for exploring the historic centre, while visits to the Plaza de España and the Triana neighbourhood also rank among the preferences of national tourists. The culinary offerings, with tapas and fried fish as major attractions, complete the package.

For the Sevillian reader, this means that the city will be busier than ever during July and August. Hotels and tourist apartments are already reporting an occupancy rate close to 85% in August, according to industry sources. Locals will need to be patient if they want to move around the centre, but they can also take the opportunity to rediscover their city from a different perspective.

Beyond Andalusia: the north is also appealing

The Civitatis report also reflects the growing interest of Spaniards in northern destinations. Santiago de Compostela ranks as the fifth most booked city, while Oviedo and Vigo make it into the 'top ten'. The appeal of milder temperatures and a strong culinary offering explains this rise.

Madrid and Barcelona maintain their position as major tourist hubs, and Toledo solidifies its status as a favourite destination for short getaways due to its proximity to the capital and its monumental wealth.

In any case, Seville reaffirms itself as one of the star destinations of the summer. Civitatis data confirms that the city continues to be a magnet for national travellers, who seek history, culture and a good atmosphere in its streets. Those who have not yet planned their holidays now know: Seville awaits them with open arms and the Giralda standing watch.
