The sporting management of Sevilla FC has informed Joan Jordán, Rafa Mir, Federico Gattoni and Fábio Cardoso that they are not part of coach Luis García Plaza's plans. The four train separately from the group while seeking an exit in the market.

Sevilla FC has made a move in the planning of its squad. The sporting management has informed Joan Jordán, Rafa Mir, Federico Gattoni and Fábio Cardoso that they are not included in Luis García Plaza's project. The four players have been following a specific training plan separated from the main group at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios since this week.

The decision, made after analysing the team's needs, leaves out players with active contracts. The club's message is clear: they must seek an exit in this transfer market or they will continue training separately. García Plaza has already warned in a press conference that he only counts on 14 or 15 players to form the starting eleven.

Joan Jordán, the most complex case

The Catalan midfielder is the name that generates the most resistance. With a contract until 2027 and one of the highest salaries in the squad, Joan Jordán has not played a single minute since García Plaza's arrival on March 24, despite having previously worked together at Alavés. Sevilla has rejected offers because they do not want to bear most of his salary, but no club is willing to pay his full wage.

The only exit being considered is a mutual termination or an agreement for the player to waive part of what he is owed. The player threatens to report Sevilla to the AFE, but the Nervión club remains inflexible. Meanwhile, Jordán continues on the sidelines, without minutes and with no signs of reintegrating into the group.

“Either they find a team or they will remain sidelined until the end of the market,” club sources warn.

Rafa Mir, without a place after his loan

The Murcian forward returned after his loan at Elche, but his comeback has been brief. Rafa Mir was sidelined by García Pimienta last season and now finds himself in the same situation again. His high salary, low performance and legal issues complicate any exit operation, whether on loan or as a transfer. The club is seeking a solution, but the market presents challenges.

Mir has not been included in any of García Plaza's matchday squads and trains alone. His future seems far from Sánchez-Pizjuán, although time is against him.

Gattoni and Cardoso, centre-backs without minutes

Federico Gattoni returned in January from his loan at River Plate and it was assumed he would have opportunities. However, he has not played a single minute under García Plaza. Sevilla will negotiate the termination of his contract, which has one year remaining. The Argentine is another of the discarded players seeking a new destination.

More striking is the case of Fábio Cardoso. Signed last summer as a free agent and with a contract until 2028, he barely accumulated 388 minutes under Matías Almeyda. With the new coach, he has not even stepped onto the pitch in an official match, having been left out of the squad on three occasions. His entourage claimed in January that he did not intend to leave, but his ostracism opens the door wide.

The situation of these four players reflects Sevilla FC's roadmap: to reduce the wage bill and invest in a smaller squad. For Sevilla fans, the question is whether any of them will find a place before the market closes. For now, they train alone and wait.
