According to this newspaper, the player recently held a meeting with Vicente Gómez, a member of the sports management of UD Las Palmas, in a hotel in Estepona, very close to the Marbella Football Center, where the Canary team is conducting its pre-season. However, despite these contacts, the player's intention is to leave Spain and embark on a new chapter abroad.
Rafa Mir previously wore the yellow shirt in the 2018/19 season, when he played 30 matches, scored seven goals, and provided two assists before moving to Nottingham Forest. However, that experience in the Second Division does not seem sufficient to convince him to return to the second tier of Spanish football.
The forward has a contract with Sevilla FC until June 2027, but his relationship with the fans has deteriorated in recent times. This is compounded by poor sporting performance that led him to be loaned first to Valencia and then to Elche last season. In the Elche team, he started well, even scoring against Sevilla, but an injury halted his progress.
The player's judicial situation could also influence his future. Rafa Mir is awaiting a judicial resolution regarding an allegation of sexual harassment, a matter that could complicate his continuity in national football.
