Fran González, Real Madrid goalkeeper, gains traction to become Sevilla's second choice

The Nervion club intensifies talks to acquire the Real Madrid goalkeeper, who would replace Alberto Flores in goal.

Sevilla FC has practically decided that Alberto Flores will be loaned out in search of playing time, and is already looking for a replacement in the market. The chosen one would be Fran González, Real Madrid's goalkeeper, who is strongly rumoured to take the position of second goalkeeper behind Vlachodimos.

According to this newspaper's confirmation, negotiations between both entities have progressed in recent days. The young goalkeeper, 21 years old, is currently the third-choice keeper for the white team, behind Courtois and Lunin, and is seeking an exit for more continuity.

Sevilla is not the only club interested. Espanyol, Celta de Vigo, and Racing de Santander have also closely followed his situation, in addition to having options abroad. However, the Nervion entity has shown the most interest so far, although no agreement has been reached yet.

Fran González has been an international with the Spanish youth teams. He was crowned champion of the U19 European Championship and has already debuted with the U21 team this year. Last season, he played for Castilla, where he demonstrated great potential that has caught the attention of the Seville club.

The departure of Alberto Flores seems imminent. The academy graduate, from Fuentes de Andalucía, had a good performance in the pre-season match against Córdoba, where he saved a penalty. However, the club believes that the best option for his development is to go out and play regularly.

If the operation materialises, Fran González would arrive to be the second goalkeeper, with the aim of providing competition and quality between the posts. Vlachodimos, for his part, is the undisputed starter following his arrival last summer.

The transfer market is still open, and Sevilla is working against the clock to finalise the squad. The arrival of a backup goalkeeper is one of the priorities, and Fran González is emerging as the most feasible option.
