The La Vereda Park hosted the first edition of the 'Utrera, It Smells Like Fair' market, which brought together exhibitors of flamenco fashion and accessories in front of a large influx of visitors.

La Vereda Park in Utrera became the epicentre of local commerce yesterday with the celebration of the first edition of the market "Utrera, It Smells Like Fair". The initiative, promoted by the Utrera City Council through the Economic Reactivation and Employment and Commerce departments, managed to gather numerous locals and visitors in a day that unfolded with a festive atmosphere and an excellent reception.

The event, designed to boost commercial activity in the weeks leading up to the Fair and Festivals of Our Lady of Consolation, transformed this space into a showcase for local commerce. Different exhibitors specialising in flamenco fashion, accessories and designs showcased their proposals for the upcoming fair, attracting the attention of an audience that filled the venue throughout the evening.

The event was attended by the mayor of Utrera, Francisco Jiménez, along with city councillors and the delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville, Ricardo Sánchez. The Sevillian artist Manuel Lombo also attended, acting as the godfather of this first edition, supporting a proposal that aims to establish itself in the local calendar.

The mayor positively assessed the day's development and highlighted that "the response from the people of Utrera has exceeded our expectations and shows that there was a demand for initiatives like this, capable of uniting commerce and leisure." In his statements, Jiménez emphasised that "local commerce has once again demonstrated the quality, talent, and attraction capacity that our city has, and the success of participation is the best recognition of the work of the establishments and all the people who made this market possible."

The mayor also valued the chosen space for the celebration, assuring that "La Vereda Park, which we have recovered, has consolidated itself as an ideal setting for hosting activities of this type." He also announced that "our goal is for this market to become a fixed date on the calendar and continue to grow in future editions."

A flamenco fashion runway

One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the flamenco fashion runway, where Utrera designers Alejandro Postigo, Añil, Consolación Delgado, and D’Flamenca presented their new collections. The audience filled the venue to enjoy a show that showcased Utrera's creative talent.

The day concluded with a performance by Utrera artist Lucía Vallecillo, who filled La Vereda Park with music and contributed to the great atmosphere experienced throughout the night. The music and the fashion show closed an event that, judging by the participation, could be repeated in future editions.

For local merchants, this initiative represents an opportunity to showcase their products in a relaxed and festive environment. The response from the public, which packed the stands, confirms the interest of the people of Utrera in this type of activity that combines leisure and consumption.

The choice of La Vereda Park as the venue was not coincidental. This recently recovered space has become a meeting point for citizens and an ideal place to host outdoor events. The recorded influx of visitors supports the City Council's decision to bet on this location.

The "Utrera, It Smells Like Fair" market joins other municipal initiatives aimed at promoting local commerce. With this first edition, the Utrera City Council seeks to lay the foundations for a tradition that, if consolidated, could be repeated every year in the run-up to the fair.

The next event will be the Fair and Festivals of Our Lady of Consolation, which will take place in the coming weeks and for which many attendees have already found in this market the fashion and accessory proposals they will wear during those days.

The Utrera City Council has not yet announced the date for a possible second edition of the market, but the success achieved suggests that the initiative will continue. Interested parties can follow the official channels of the City Council to learn about upcoming events.
