The mayor of Alcalá de Guadaíra has visited the redevelopment works on José Pinelo Street, which are nearing completion and will open to traffic in the coming weeks with a unique platform and pedestrian priority.
José Pinelo Street in Alcalá de Guadaíra is finalising its redevelopment works these days and will open to traffic in the coming weeks. This was confirmed by the city's mayor during a visit to the street, accompanied by the delegate for Urban Planning and Strategic Planning, Jesús Mora.
The intervention is part of the urban centre pedestrianisation plan and the implementation of the low emission zone, which also encompasses the area around Plaza de los Pintores Paisajistas and Nicolás Álperiz Street.
The project has configured the street with a unique platform, separating pedestrian areas and vehicular traffic through various elements. The pavement is the main visual distinction between both spaces and connects with the paving of Plaza del Duque.
In addition to the new design, the works have improved the current state of the street to organise traffic and prioritise pedestrian flow over vehicular traffic. Overhead crossings of existing installations have also been buried to eliminate visual noise, and more efficient networks have been incorporated, such as the new public lighting installation.
Once the work is completed, the street will open to traffic with a descending direction from Plaza del Duque to San Francisco Street, and circulation will be preferentially for residents.
