The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has handed over a 500 square metre warehouse to IES Hienipa for the practices of the Intermediate Vocational Training Cycle in Construction, a space without which the implementation of this cycle would not have been possible.
The delegate for Education, Economic Development and Industry of Alcalá de Guadaíra, Pablo Chain, visited the municipal industrial warehouse that the City Council has provided to the centre for the practices of its Intermediate Vocational Training Cycle in Construction, along with the management of IES Hienipa. The facilities, located on Cristalería Diez street, cover approximately 500 square metres and have been equipped with toilets and other necessary services for training.
Chain emphasised that this space was essential for the launch of the cycle, as without adequate facilities for practices, its implementation would not have been possible. “This is a demonstration of the government team's commitment to improving the training offer and employment for the youth of Alcalá,” the councillor stated.
The handover of the warehouse not only benefits the students but also has an impact on the construction sector and the local economy. Chain highlighted that there is a social and business demand for qualified professionals in this field, and that the cycle contributes to promoting local employment with training tailored to the needs of the job market. Furthermore, he pointed out that training technicians in construction can lead to the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises, thus boosting the municipality's economy.
This initiative is part of a collaboration strategy between the City Council, the educational sector, and the business community. Chain has praised the work of the Employment Pact Table, which coordinates companies and unions, as well as the efforts of the Employment delegate, Paula Fuster, who promoted a pioneering study on the needs for professional profiles even before the centre requested assistance from the City Council for the granting of the new training cycle by the Department of Educational Development.
The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has been developing actions for years to connect institutes with vocational training cycles to the labour and industrial market. Among them, notable events include the one held in May at La Procesadora with the logistics sector, the meeting on building and civil works at IES Hienipa itself, and the business contact day at La Procesadora with the entire vocational training educational offer. These activities, organised by the Economic Development Delegation, aim to facilitate the labour insertion of students.
Additionally, the Employment area develops programmes such as Employment Schools for young people, Alcalá Emplea en Verde, the RELANZA-T project, or Eracis, all focused on qualified training as a tool to improve employability. Chain has insisted that employment is one of the City Council's top priorities, and that collaboration between administrations, educational centres, and companies is key to achieving it.
The warehouse handed over to IES Hienipa will allow students of the Construction Technician cycle to carry out real practices in an environment similar to what they will encounter in the labour market. This represents a qualitative leap in their training, as they will be able to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom. The delegate reminded that vocational training is an increasingly sought-after pathway by young people and offers immediate professional opportunities.
For its part, the management of IES Hienipa has expressed its satisfaction with the handover of the warehouse, which they consider fundamental for the development of the cycle. The centre has already begun to organise the practices, which are expected to start in the coming weeks. Students will be able to work with real materials and tools, giving them a competitive advantage when seeking employment.
The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council continues to support vocational training as a driver of economic and social development. The handover of this warehouse is just one example of the multiple initiatives being carried out to improve the employability of young people and respond to the needs of the local business fabric.
