The Local Police of Alcalá de Guadaíra has solved a burglary, a toxic dumping incident, and a drug dealing point in August. Municipal cameras and citizen collaboration have been key.
The Local Police of Alcalá de Guadaíra has closed three investigations in recent weeks, resulting in the identification of the perpetrators of a burglary, an environmental crime due to uncontrolled dumping, and a drug dealing point. In all three cases, according to municipal sources, technology and community participation have been decisive.
The first case was resolved thanks to the video surveillance system being deployed in the city. Officers analysed footage from security cameras and managed to identify the alleged culprits of a burglary, as well as reconstruct their escape route. The images provided key evidence to determine who they were.
Since the beginning of the year, the Local Police has received 55 requests for collaboration from other security forces, related to identifications, control, and location of vehicles and individuals linked to criminal acts. This cooperation has allowed for the identification of perpetrators of property crimes, document falsifications, and individuals involved in assaults.
The delegate of Governance, Pedro Gracia, has emphasised the joint work of police units and the value of video surveillance. In a statement, he noted:
“The training of the officers, collaboration with the National Police Corps, and citizen participation are essential to keep Alcalá de Guadaíra a safe and clean environment.”
The second case is related to the environment. On August 18, during routine surveillance in the municipal area, officers detected a large number of empty containers in a rural area. The containers contained remnants of a flammable and toxic liquid and lacked the mandatory treatment at an authorised centre. Following an investigation, the individuals responsible for the dumping were identified, and proceedings were initiated that will be made available to the judiciary.
The third operation focused on drug dealing. On August 29, officers dismantled an active selling point on Rafael Beca street, a leisure area of the locality. The operation began upon detecting unusual foot traffic. The operation concluded with the seizure of several doses ready for distribution, cash, and a precision scale. The alleged perpetrator was arrested and handed over to the local National Police Station.
Police activity in August has been intense. According to data provided by the City Council, the Local Police attended to 2,031 incidents, arrested or investigated 28 individuals, and carried out 1,051 identifications.
The municipal video surveillance system continues to expand and, according to the City Council, improves the preventive and operational capacity of security forces, speeds up responses to incidents, and optimises available resources.
