The Town Hall of Lebrija joins once again the campaign 'Tolerance Extinguishes Hate' with the blue illumination of the town hall facade and the monument to Elio Antonio de Nebrija on the night of July 22.

On the night of July 22, the facade of the Town Hall of Lebrija and the monument to Elio Antonio de Nebrija will be dyed blue. This will be the symbolic gesture with which the town joins the sixth edition of the campaign 'Tolerance Extinguishes Hate', promoted by the Movement Against Intolerance in commemoration of the European Day in Memory of the Victims of Hate Crimes.

The initiative, which coincides with the anniversary of the Oslo and Utøya attacks in 2011, aims to highlight the collective commitment against hate and to remember all those who have suffered crimes motivated by racism, xenophobia, LGTBIfobia, antisemitism, or discrimination based on disability, religion, or origin.

A Symbolic Gesture with National Reach

Lebrija thus joins numerous public institutions across Spain that will illuminate their emblematic buildings in blue as part of the campaign. The Town Hall invites citizens to join the message of unity, emphasizing that tolerance and respect are pillars for a fairer society.

The campaign 'Tolerance Extinguishes Hate' celebrates its sixth edition in 2026. According to municipal sources, the illumination will be activated at dusk on July 22 and will remain visible throughout the night, serving as a beacon of memory and prevention.

Commitment to Diversity and Human Rights

The Town Hall of Lebrija thus reaffirms its commitment to building an inclusive society. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of preventing any manifestation of hate, discrimination, or violence, in a European context where hate crimes remain a growing concern.

The European Day in Memory of the Victims of Hate Crimes was proclaimed by the Council of Europe in memory of the 77 victims of the Oslo attacks and the island of Utøya. Since then, every July 22 has become a day for memory and civic commitment.

The residents of Lebrija will be able to approach the Town Hall square to observe the special illumination. The City Council also encourages the dissemination of messages of respect and equality on social media using the campaign hashtag, as a way to amplify the impact of this symbolic action.

With this participation, Lebrija joins a network of municipalities that advocate for tolerance as an antidote to hate. A blue light that, for one night, will remind us that diversity is a value and not a threat.
