Las Cabezas de San Juan will celebrate its traditional Horse Ribbon Races on September 5. The 2026 edition features a new organisation and raises the first prize for adults to 800 euros.

Las Cabezas de San Juan will host a new edition of its traditional Horse Ribbon Races on Saturday, September 5, an unmissable event of the Preferia. The competition will take place starting at 20:00 hours in the parking area of the Avenida Pepe Castro Fair.

This year, the organisation is led for the first time by the Equestrian School of young local resident Ezequiel Jurado, in collaboration with the Las Cabezas de San Juan Town Hall. The change in organisation aims to highlight local talent and strengthen the town's connection to the equestrian world.

The adult category features significantly higher prizes than last year's edition. The winner will receive 800 euros, compared to 300 euros the previous year, making this amount the highest in recent years. The second place will receive 400 euros and the third, 200 euros. Registration for this category will cost 20 euros.

The children's category will also have cash prizes: 100, 60 and 40 euros for the top three finishers, with a registration fee of 15 euros. As an extra incentive, the winners of the first and second children's prizes will enjoy a free guided visit to the Yeguada Torreluna, scheduled for September 26 at 11:00 hours. Their family members and companions can join for a special price of 25 euros, compared to the usual 65 euros fee.

The event will feature a bar service, raffles, and children's betting, as reported by the Town Hall. The competition is part of the events leading up to the September Fair, which will take place this year from September 9 to 13, and is open to participants, families, and the general public.

The organisation has thanked the collaboration of around twenty local businesses and establishments, including Farmacia Mendoza, Jaiman Multiservicios, S.L. Rocarr, Team Dressage Ramírez-Cascante, García Luque, CENSE MOTOR, Farmacia Adela Puig, Club Hípico Guadaíra, Gimnasio Activa-T Fitness & Health, Rincón del Cojo Rosa, Instalaciones Jomaez, Cafetería-Parque Infantil “El Payaso”, Carpintería de Aluminio “El Pinante”, Agricentro LR, Foneleca – Instaladores Autorizados, Imprenta Las Cabezas, Mi Jaca, Bereginal Carpintería Metálica, Dressage, Comestibles Ancá La Yiyi, Vitaldent, Jerónimo Egea Montaño, Clínica Equina Móvil Bajo Guadalquivir, Taller de María y Pedro, and Lavabu.
