The Local Security Board of Écija has met to coordinate the measures for the Patron's festival and the Real Fair, which will take place in September. The procession route for the Virgen del Valle features changes to bring it closer to the Carmen neighbourhood.
The City Council of Écija has called a meeting of the Local Security Board to outline the coordination of the various preventive operations that will be deployed in the city during September, a period that concentrates two of the most crowded events on the local calendar.
The first of these is the festival of the Patron, the Virgen del Valle, which is celebrated on September 8. This year, the procession will feature a modified route at the request of the Brotherhood, aiming to bring the image closer to streets where it has never processed before and to reach all the neighbourhoods of the city. The itinerary will pay special attention to the Carmen neighbourhood.
The other major event is the Real Fair of Écija, which will be held from September 15 to 20. During the meeting, the new allocation for the use and distribution of spaces designated for fair attractions was reviewed. The mayor, Silvia Heredia, emphasised the need for thorough coordination between the person responsible for that tender and the security forces to ensure equitable distribution and compliance with all guarantees for the public.
“Thorough coordination is necessary on the part of the person responsible for that tender and our security forces, to ensure equitable distribution and, above all, to meet all the guarantees required by our citizens,” explains the mayor, Silvia Heredia.
Heredia also insisted on the importance of the City Council supervising the entire process of setting up and dismantling the booths, as well as any aspect that allows enjoyment of the fair without incidents.
“It is essential for the City Council to supervise everything related to the setup and dismantling of booths, all aspects that allow enjoyment of the Fair without incidents, so that everyone from the youngest to the oldest can enjoy, which is ultimately what we aim for since we took on this mayoralty.”
For her part, the delegate for Civic Security, Rosario Delgado, announced that the Local Police will provide around 150 services during the fair, while the National Police will have more resources than in previous years, as coordinated.
“We are always trying to improve the services they provide, for example, our Local Police, who this year will offer around 150 services during the fair, and we will have the National Police who will have even more resources than in previous years, as coordinated.”
The Local Security Board also discussed the organisation of the VIII Solidarity March against cancer, which will take place on October 24 at 18:30. Delgado noted that the event grows each year and that the organisers have already prepared nearly 4,000 t-shirts, making it essential to coordinate both the route and the subsequent celebration.
The march will start from Plaza de España and will proceed along calle Miguel de Cervantes, Avenida de Andalucía, Cronista Martín Jiménez, Puerta Osuna, Ancha, Puerta Cerrada, San Juan Bosco, plaza Matadero, ronda de San Agustín, Avenida de los Emigrantes, Plaza de Colón, Calzada, Merinos, Berbisa, Plaza Agiles y Rubio and will conclude at Parque de San Pablo, where there will be a musical gathering, a solidarity bar, and other activities.
The mayor has wanted to highlight the work of the professionals who make up the Security Board and has welcomed the new chief inspector of the National Police of Écija, Francisco Pedro López Caballero.
