The works, with an investment of over €430,000, will improve the pavement and roadway and will plant nearly 40 trees. The project is funded by the Diputación Más Sevilla Plan.
The renovation of Mendoza Street in Écija is on schedule. According to the City Council, the works will be completed before December 31 and the installations for water, electricity, and the underground works outlined in the project are already underway.
The intervention has an investment slightly exceeding €430,000 and is financed through a grant from the Diputación Más Sevilla Plan. The aim is to renew the pavement and roadway of a street that serves as one of the main accesses to the town centre and the historic district.
Among the planned improvements is the planting of over 40 trees, which will provide shade and coolness during the hot months. New benches will also be installed in the wider area of the street, and a single platform will be created in the narrowest section, facilitating pedestrian transit and accessibility.
The project maintains the existing parking spaces and completes a comprehensive improvement of the surroundings. The works have reached the archaeological substrate without any findings, allowing progress to continue normally.
The mayor of Écija, Silvia Heredia, has praised the development of the work.
“We are very satisfied with the progress of this work, a much-needed intervention on one of the city's main arteries and one of the main accesses to the centre and our historic district.”
For his part, the Urban Planning delegate, Ángel Peña, has thanked the involvement of the technical teams and administrations.
“We appreciate the work and coordination of the project managers, municipal technicians, the executing company, the Diputación, and the Territorial Delegation of Culture, especially for their collaboration in the necessary archaeological studies.”
The municipal forecast is that the street will return to normal before the end of the year, with the new configuration already completed.
