The Town Hall of Tomares has opened the registration period for a new edition of the Camino de Santiago, which this year will traverse the Portuguese Route between Tui and Santiago de Compostela from August 1 to 9. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until July 20.

The Camino de Santiago is once again the star this summer in Tomares. The Youth Delegation of the Town Hall has organised a new edition of the pilgrimage, which on this occasion will follow the Portuguese Way, from Tui to Santiago de Compostela, between August 1 and 9.

The initiative is aimed at young people aged 14 and over, with no age limit, and has a price of 565 euros for subscribers to the Municipal Sports Facilities or Sociocultural Activities, while for other participants it will be 595 euros.

Registration and Limited Places

The application period will remain open until July 20 or until all available places are filled. Registrations will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so the council recommends that interested parties hurry.

To formalise the registration, interested parties must send an email to deportes@tomares.es, indicating their name, surname, phone number, and contact email. More information can also be obtained by calling 607 372 959.

Services Included in the Trip

The activity includes bus transportation from Tomares throughout the journey, accommodation in a 2-star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, two dinners, the Compostelana Credential of the Pilgrim, a prior information meeting, and the permanent accompaniment of monitors-guides from the Town Hall, with assistance available 24 hours a day.

The information meeting with all participants will take place on July 29 at 20:30, at a location yet to be confirmed, which will be communicated to those registered.

An Experience for All Ages

The Camino de Santiago has become one of the most anticipated summer activities in Tomares, bringing together residents of different ages eager to experience this journey. The Portuguese route, one of the most popular, offers a route of about 100 kilometres that combines green landscapes, history, and tradition.

Participants should be prepared to walk an average of 20 kilometres daily, with a light backpack and suitable footwear. The organisation recommends wearing comfortable clothing, sun protection, and plenty of water.

It is a unique opportunity to disconnect from routine and connect with oneself, in a spectacular natural environment and with the support of a team of monitors who will ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims, municipal sources state.

The Town Hall of Tomares encourages residents to participate in this adventure that, beyond the physical effort, offers personal and cultural enrichment that is hard to match.
