The Town Hall of Tomares has organised a new edition of the Camino de Santiago, in which a group of residents set off on Saturday, August 1, via the Portuguese Route.
A large group of residents from Tomares set off last Saturday, August 1, to undertake the Camino de Santiago, in a new edition of the initiative organised by the Town Hall each summer. The walkers will travel the Portuguese Route from Tui to Santiago de Compostela, with an expected arrival on August 8.
The route totals 120 kilometres divided into six stages: from Tui to O Porriño (17.4 km), from O Porriño to Redondela (15.9 km), from Redondela to Pontevedra (20.4 km), from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis (21.5 km), from Caldas de Reis to Padrón (18.5 km), and from Padrón to Santiago (26 km).
The activity, promoted by the Youth Delegation of the Town Hall of Tomares, includes bus transport from the municipality, accommodation in a two-star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, two dinners, the Pilgrim's Credential, and guided cultural visits. Additionally, participants have the continuous support of monitors and guides from the Town Hall, with assistance available 24 hours a day.
The initiative is aimed at young people aged 14 and over, with no age limit, and seeks to provide Tomares residents with an experience that the Town Hall repeats every summer.
