A group of 60 residents of Gines, of various ages, completed the last stretch of the French Way of St. James last week, between Sarria and Santiago de Compostela, in an activity organised by the Town Hall.
A group of 60 residents of Gines of different ages completed the French Way of St. James last week, an experience organised by the Town Hall that combined community, spirituality, sport, and culture.
The route, covering 117 kilometres, included the stages Sarria – Portomarín – Palas de Rei – Arzúa – O Pedruzo – Santiago, one of the most emblematic and frequented itineraries of the Camino. Participants set off from Sarria and arrived in the Galician capital, where they concluded their pilgrimage.
The initiative, promoted through the Youth, Young Plus, and Sports departments of the Town Hall, aimed to encourage outdoor physical activity, camaraderie, and the discovery of natural and cultural heritage in a unique setting.
The programme included round-trip bus transportation, accommodation in hostels during the different stages, a tour of the city of Santiago as a final touch, and travel insurance that covered the entire activity.
The experience, open to residents of different generations, allowed participants to share days of effort and community on one of the most well-known pilgrimage routes in the world, with departure and return organised from the Sevillian town.
