The II International Blues Festival of Tomares will be held on September 18 and 19 at the Patio de las Buganvillas and the Jardines del Conde. Tia Carroll, one of the great divas of the genre, will be the headliner.
The II International Blues Festival of Tomares returns after the success of its first edition and does so with an expanded format: two days of concerts, on Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19, at two different venues in the municipality. The big news is the presence of Californian Tia Carroll, considered one of the most powerful voices in contemporary blues, soul, and gospel.
The festival, organised by the Town Hall of Tomares in collaboration with the Casa del Blues de Sevilla, maintains its commitment to closeness between artists and the audience, a format that the Seville entity has made its own. Tickets are already on sale at www.tomarestickets.com, with the option to purchase a discounted pass for both days.
Friday's event will take place at the Patio de las Buganvillas and will serve as an appetizer. At 20:00, Santos Puertas, one of the great references of acoustic blues in Spain, will give a masterclass. At 21:30, there will be a cocktail with free-flowing beer, wine, and soft drinks, along with a selection of dishes, designed for musicians and fans to share experiences. The night will continue with a concert by Santos Puertas at 22:30 and an open jam session for musicians who want to take the stage.
The main event will arrive on Saturday at the Jardines del Conde of the Hacienda Santa Ana, the seat of the Town Hall, starting at 12:30. Tia Carroll, born in Richmond (California) in 1958, will headline the lineup at 00:00. The artist has shared the stage with legends such as Ray Charles, B.B. King, and Patti LaBelle, and her latest work, “You gotta have it” (2021), was nominated for Best Blues Album at the BMA in Memphis and at the Blast Music Awards 2021.
Before her performance, on Saturday, the stage will feature Lightning Band (13:00), La Manso & Blues Sapiens (14:00), Slowhand, a tribute to Eric Clapton, (15:00), Santos Puertas (16:00), Quique Gómez & His Vipers (18:00), Q & The Moonstones (20:00), and Lluís Coloma Trío & Kid Carlos (22:00).
The first edition of the festival, held last year, brought together figures such as British guitarist Matt Schofield, Kid Carlos Band, and Lolo Ortega & Mingo Balaguer. With this second edition, Tomares strengthens its commitment to making the municipality a must-visit for blues lovers, with a programme that combines concerts, training, and informal meetings between musicians and the audience.
