A group of 110 boys and girls from Gines, aged between 8 and 12, set off this Wednesday to El Rocío to participate in the twenty-seventh edition of the Children's Colonies organised by the Hermandad del Rocío de Gines. The initiative, which will take place until July 29, involves 30 monitors and a wide programme of recreational and educational activities.
The children will enjoy themed days, outings to the beach and a water park, as well as numerous games, all combined with training and community activities at the Casa Hermandad del Rocío de Gines. The organisation is managed by the delegations of Welfare and Youth of the brotherhood, with the support of volunteers who handle logistics and meal preparation.
Before the departure, the participants attended a prayer at the Ermita de Santa Rosalía, a traditional act that marks the beginning of the colony. The mayor of Gines, Romualdo Garrido, went to the site to bid farewell to the group and wish them a happy stay.
The Children's Colonies have become one of the most anticipated proposals of the summer for families in the municipality. According to sources from the brotherhood, the activity not only offers a space for leisure and fun but also promotes values such as coexistence, respect, and devotion to the Rocío among the youngest.
In this edition, the initiative has expanded its social reach.
