The Carmona artist Nuria Barrera has designed the poster for the XVIII edition of Una Pará in Gines, which will take place from October 1 to 4. The work, presented at the Town Hall, includes a nod to Mexico as a novelty.
The municipality of Gines now has an image for its most significant event of the year. The artist Nuria Barrera, originally from Carmona, has been tasked with designing the promotional poster for the XVIII edition of Una Pará in Gines, declared a Tourist Interest Event of Andalusia. The work was presented a few days ago at the Town Hall, in an event attended by the mayor, Romualdo Garrido.
The poster, created on wood, opts for a composition of great chromatic strength where primary colours and visual harmony prevail. At the centre of the image stands the figure of a carter alongside a yoke of oxen, a direct homage to the origin of the event itself: the Yoke and Carter Competition, one of the most traditional activities in the programme.
The work is completed with a black and white collage that, like a puzzle, unfolds various scenes and activities of Una Pará in Gines. The horse appears as another major protagonist, alongside recognizable elements such as the drummer, the fashion show, the singing, and the entrance of the venue. The coat of arms of the Town Hall and the Simpecado of the Brotherhood of Rocío of Gines are also included, in reference to the municipality's Rocío connection.
Around the oxen, phrases appear with the names of the activities that take place throughout the days of the event, as well as a '¡Viva!' dedicated to the Virgin of Rocío. The designation 'XVIII Una Pará in Gines' and the flag of Mexico complete the work, as a nod to one of the major novelties of this edition: the inclusion of proposals related to the North American country.
Nuria Barrera is a recognized artist in the Andalusian sphere, with a career that spans both painting and graphic design. Her style, characterized by the use of vibrant colours and a mix of techniques, has been praised in previous works for fairs and cultural events.
