IES El Majuelo in Gines has begun the 2026-2027 school year with around 1,400 students and 108 teachers. The principal and the mayor welcomed the 1st year ESO students at the entrance of the school.
The IES El Majuelo in Gines officially kicked off the 2026-2027 school year on Tuesday, September 15, with around 1,400 students. The school has 108 teachers and 42 ordinary groups, along with 4 groups of ESPA and Adult Baccalaureate.
The inaugural day featured the students of 1st year ESO. The school principal, José Luis Navarro, along with the mayor of Gines, Romualdo Garrido, and the municipal education delegate, David Ostos, welcomed them at the entrance of the school before they occupied their classrooms for the first time in Secondary education.

During the event, the school and town hall officials encouraged the new students to embrace this stage with effort and to make the most of every moment to achieve the best results. Afterwards, the students entered their classrooms, as did the other year groups throughout the morning.
The IES El Majuelo is one of the most significant schools in the Aljarafe region in terms of student enrolment. For families in Gines, the start of the school year means returning to the school routine and, for those starting Secondary, adapting to a school with over a thousand students.
The school year thus begins in the municipality normally, with no notable incidents on the first day, according to sources from the school. Classes will be held at regular hours starting this week.
