The Youth Delegation of Pilas is organising a free road safety workshop for children aged 7 to 12 on September 22 at the Alcalde José Suárez Cuesta Municipal Park, with limited places and two age groups.
The Alcalde José Suárez Cuesta Municipal Park in Pilas will host a children's workshop on World Car-Free Day on September 22. The activity is promoted by the Youth Delegation of the Pilas City Council and is aimed at children aged 7 to 12 years.
The workshop is divided into two parts. In the theoretical section, participants will learn why this day is celebrated, review different modes of transport, and receive basic training on road safety. The learning is reinforced with a game about traffic signs and their meanings.
The second part is practical and will take place in a road safety circuit. The children will take on different roles: some will ride bicycles or scooters, others will act as police officers, and the rest will be pedestrians. The organisation recommends that participants bring their own bike or scooter to take part in this activity.
The workshop is divided into two age groups. Group 1, for children aged 7 to 9 years, will be from 18:00 to 19:00. Group 2, for ages 10 to 12 years, will take place from 19:00 to 20:00. Both sessions will be held at the same location.
Places are limited, so the Youth Delegation has set up an online registration form via Google Forms. Interested families must submit their application before the spots run out.
This initiative is part of the international celebration of World Car-Free Day, a day that promotes more sustainable and safer mobility habits in urban environments. For the municipality, the activity aims for young children to learn the basic traffic rules from an early age and to interact with various modes of transport on the streets.
