The Teniente Guillermo Antúnez Mellado park in Gines hosted this Wednesday the third session of ‘Cinema Wednesdays’, featuring a World Cup sticker swap prior to the screening of ‘A Minecraft Movie’.
The Teniente Guillermo Antúnez Mellado park in Gines was the venue this Wednesday for the third installment of ‘Cinema Wednesdays’, a municipal initiative that combines outdoor summer cinema with parallel activities. From 8:00 PM, children and young people gathered at the venue to participate in a World Cup sticker swap, an activity that had already taken place during the broadcasts of the semi-final and final matches on the giant screen, and was repeated at popular request.
The swap allowed attendees to complete their sticker albums for a historic World Cup, with the Spanish National Team already crowned world champions. The initiative, organized by the municipal Culture department, aims to promote collecting and interaction among football fans, especially among the youngest.
After the swap, at 10:30 PM, the screening of ‘A Minecraft Movie’ began, based on the popular video game. Attendees were able to enjoy the adventures of the protagonists in the game universe, in a free and family-friendly session that attracted a large audience.
‘Cinema Wednesdays’ will continue on July 29, also at the Teniente Guillermo Antúnez park, with the screening of ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ at the same time. In August, the sessions will start half an hour earlier and change location. On August 5, the ‘El Cortijuelo’ Park will host ‘Mufasa. The Lion King’ at 10:00 PM. On August 12, the Concejala Dolores Camino Park will screen ‘Snow White’, and on August 19, ‘Lilo & Stitch’, both also at 10:00 PM.
In September, the programming will move to the Manolo Pérez Park, with two sessions: ‘Elio’ on August 26 at 9:30 PM, and ‘Bad Guys 2’ on September 2 at the same time. All screenings are free and outdoors, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs for added comfort.
This initiative, which has established itself as one of the most anticipated cultural and leisure proposals of the summer in Gines, brings cinema to different corners of the municipality, combining entertainment with the enjoyment of natural spaces. The Culture department has highlighted the positive reception of the sessions and encourages residents to participate in the upcoming events.
