The 21st National Yoke and Carters Championship Antonio Posada 'Titi Juana' will be held on Sunday, October 4th, at the oxen track in Gines, with events starting at 11:00 AM and cash prizes up to the twelfth place.
The oxen track in Gines will once again be the venue for the 21st National Yoke and Carters Championship Antonio Posada 'Titi Juana', which will take place on Sunday, October 4th starting at 11:00 AM. The event, organised by the Gines Town Hall and the Cultural Association of Carters of Gines, is the longest-running activity held each year during Una Pará in Gines and maintains its connection to the traditional pilgrimage culture of the municipality.
Local and foreign carters aged 16 years and older can participate, guiding their yokes of oxen through a circuit with obstacles and completing it within a maximum time of 15 minutes. The course includes challenges such as zig-zag, bumps, stairs, the creek, the bridge, and the call, and the jury will assess the training and animal welfare.
The championship will award cash prizes up to the 12th place, as well as special trophies for the Best Yoke of Gines, the Best Equipped Yoke and Carter, and the Best Call. The complete rules are available on the Gines Town Hall website.
For the residents of Gines and fans of traditions, the event is a key date in the Pará calendar, with free entry for the public to the oxen track from early morning.
