Gines held its traditional Romería in honour of San Ginés this Sunday, with a day of intense heat that gathered hundreds of faithful around the Patron.
The Sevillian town of Gines experienced one of its most anticipated events of the year this Sunday: the Romería in honour of San Ginés, which once again filled the streets with fervour, joy, and community despite the high temperatures.
The day began with the Rosario de la Aurora and the subsequent Misa de Romeros at the Parish. After the Eucharistic celebration, the image of the Patron was carried on a litter to the Plaza de España, where it was enthroned in its cart while the voices of Voces Peregrinas, who had also participated in the mass, rang out.
The procession, led by the drummer, was headed by the Governing Board of the San Ginés Parish Group, along with the mayor, Romualdo Garrido, the parish priest, Elías Domínguez Teba, and representatives of local brotherhoods and parish realities.
The streets of Gines were adorned for the occasion with floral decorations and banners, creating a festive atmosphere. One of the most emotional moments was the traditional visits to the elderly and sick, during which the Group presented mementoes of the Patron accompanied by a flower.
In the area of the Sanatorio, attendees prayed the Ángelus before an altar set up by the brotherhood association G7. The Parish Group offered a snack there to those who came to receive San Ginés.
The cart continued to the Pinar de San Ginés, a space arranged by the Gines City Council for everyone's enjoyment. Throughout the day, pilgrims and families shared laughter and moments of community in this natural setting.
In the afternoon, on the return journey, the cart was accompanied by faithful of all ages. The Patron was presented before the brotherhoods of Rosario, Santa Rosalía, Sacramental, and del Rocío, and returned to the Plaza de España, where, as tradition dictates, it was carried for a few moments by a group of women.
The entrance into the parish temple capped off a day that once again demonstrated the deep-rooted nature of this celebration in Gines, where devotion to the Saint of Arles is experienced with special intensity each year.
