The Plaza de España will host the Guild Festival on September 4 and 5 in honour of the Virgen de Setefilla, featuring performances by Raya Real and local groups. The Town Hall will provide childcare facilities to facilitate family attendance.
The mayor of Lora del Río, Antonio Enamorado, and the councillor for Major Festivals, María José Moreno, presented the programme for the Guild Festival this Tuesday, which will take place on September 4 and 5 in the Plaza de España to celebrate the feast of the Virgen de Setefilla, the patron saint of the municipality.
For two nights, the square will become a meeting point for locals and visitors, coinciding with the end of the Novena celebrated at the Church of the Assumption. The programme kicks off on Friday, September 4 at 11:00 PM with a performance by Los Alpresa, followed at 1:00 AM by the group La Carbonería.
On Saturday, September 5, the music will also start at 11:00 PM with Raya Real, and at 1:00 AM the group Salea will take the stage. In total, there will be four performances designed to liven up the evening.
Enamorado emphasised that these festivals represent "much more than two nights of music", as they are an opportunity to "meet, coexist, and celebrate together one of the traditions that unites the people of Lora". The mayor also highlighted the charitable nature of the event and the involvement of the Guilds of the Virgen:
"It is important that these celebrations also have a charitable purpose and, at the same time, allow us to bring our neighbours together around such an important festivity for Lora del Río."
For her part, María José Moreno encouraged residents to enjoy the atmosphere and announced that facilities have been prepared for families. "We wanted these festivals to be for everyone and, especially, to ensure that families have the means to participate and enjoy these activities," the councillor stated.
One of the new features of this edition is the childcare facilities, which will operate from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM on both Friday and Saturday. They will be organised by age: from 0 to 6 years at El Bailío, and from 6 to 12 years at the Casa de la Cultura. Spaces are limited and there will be adapted activities, including participation for children with special needs.
During both nights, the Guilds will set up bars with affordable prices, with profits going to charitable causes. With this initiative, the Town Hall aims to provide a reconciliation alternative so that mothers and fathers can enjoy the festival while their children participate in supervised activities.
