The mayor of Lora del Río, Antonio Enamorado, attended the premiere of the documentary 'Bonsor' this Tuesday, held at the Teatro Calixto Sánchez in Mairena del Alcor. The screening reviews the figure of Jorge Bonsor, regarded as the father of modern archaeology in Spain.
Among the sites excavated by Bonsor is Setefilla, located in the municipality of Lora del Río, where the Tartessian remains that brought fame to the Loreño site were uncovered. The documentary dedicates part of its footage to this intervention, which placed the town on the map of peninsular archaeology.
The event brought together the Minister of Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport, Patricia del Pozo; the Government delegate of the Junta in Seville, Ricardo Sánchez, and the mayor of Mairena del Alcor, Juanma López Domínguez, among other authorities.
The presence of the Loreño mayor at the premiere underscores the municipality's connection to Bonsor's legacy, whose work also extended to Baelo Claudia in Bolonia and Carmona. For Lora del Río, the figure of the archaeologist is key to understanding the dissemination of its Tartessian heritage.
