The programme includes a youth novel cycle, tributes to the Generation of '27, an international cultural journalism campus, and the Creative Factory Awards presented to Salvador Gutiérrez Solís and Ena Lucía Portela.
The Rinconada presented this Friday the programming of the Autumn Station of Letters, which will take place over the coming months with around thirty proposals. The event was held at the Path of Creation, in the Dehesa Boyal park, and was attended by the mayor, Javier Fernández; the Culture delegate, Raquel Vega; and representatives from the Reader Council of the Letters of La Rinconada, such as the director of the José Manuel Lara Foundation, Pablo Morillo, and writers Fernando Repiso, Mercedes de Pablos, and Salvador Gutiérrez Solís.
The event also served to present the National Creative Factory Award for Letters to Salvador Gutiérrez Solís, thus opening the literary season. In the Ibero-American edition, the award will go to the Cuban writer Ena Lucía Portela.
The event is once again one of the pillars of La Rinconada's candidacy for UNESCO Creative City of Literature. The programme was recognised with the National Award for the Promotion of Reading 2025.
"Literature and the written word act as the train or central station of the Creative City candidacy. From there, they branch out into other disciplines such as cinema, performing arts, music, architecture, urban interventions, and even artificial intelligence," noted the Culture delegate, Raquel Vega.
Internationalisation is one of the key themes of this edition. La Rinconada has been an extension, along with Madrid and Barcelona, of the Centroamérica Cuenta programme, which has brought ten authors to discuss language and literature, music and poetry, or journalism and justice. Additionally, the International Cultural Journalism Campus will go global with top-level figures.
The impact on the youth audience is reinforced with the Youth Novel Cycle, coordinated by Salvador Gutiérrez Solís, featuring authors such as María Rosal, Pablo Gutiérrez, May Ayamonte, and Daniel Blanco. Students will also participate in the Encounters on Stage, with actors and playwrights from the cultural centres' theatre programming.
The theatrical programming for this station includes revisiting classics such as 'Lope Exprés', 'Los guardianes del verso', and 'Inés de Ulloa', as well as 'Poet (lost) in New York', featuring Lorca as the protagonist.
The Violet Space will host journalist Ana Morales, who will present her first editorial project, 'Marital Status: Tired'. Art historian Esther Regueira will give a talk titled 'Women of the 27', about those known as "the women without hats", who broke social norms in 1920s and 30s Spain and were silenced by Francoism.
The Generation of '27 will play a central role with the publication of 'Sevilla in 1927', the third installment of the Literary Didactic Notebooks that local high school students will work on. The work, by writer Eva Díaz Pérez, will show what the city was like that hosted the poets and was preparing for the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929.
The mayor, Javier Fernández, highlighted the consolidation of the event: "The Station of Letters is not only a local pride due to its National Award for the Promotion of Reading 2025, but a firm demonstration that La Rinconada is a cultural reference. With this autumn edition, we reinforce our commitment to the Creative City candidacy."
The programme is completed with Letters of Cinema and other activities that will take place in the coming months in various locations throughout the municipality.
