Seville City Council has announced the names of the Triana residents who will embody the Three Wise Men and the Royal Herald in the Triana neighbourhood. The host Francisco Manuel López Rodríguez will be Melchor, the dentist Ana Contreras López will be Baltasar, and the banker Salvador Perales Leiva will be the Herald.
The Seville City Council revealed on Friday the names of the locals who will bring the Three Wise Men and the Royal Herald to life in the Triana neighbourhood during the upcoming Christmas festivities. The selection, which remains one of the most popular traditions in the district, combines names linked to hospitality, healthcare, and the brotherhood life of the area.
The King Melchor will be represented by the host Francisco Manuel López Rodríguez, owner of the Cervecería Freiduría Alboreá and the Restaurante Taberna de Triana. López Rodríguez is also a member of Triana in the Association of Hoteliers of Seville, which strengthens the neighbourhood's connection to its service sector.
The figure of King Baltasar will be taken on by Dr. Ana Contreras López, a dentist at the Clínica Dental Contreras, located in the neighbourhood itself. With this appointment, the Triana procession adds female representation in a role traditionally reserved for men.
The Royal Herald, responsible for collecting letters from Triana's children on the afternoon of January 2, will be Salvador Perales Leiva. A banking professional, Perales has strong ties to the brotherhood life of the neighbourhood as a brother of the Cachorro, the Rocío de Triana, and the Esperanza de Triana, in addition to serving as a foreman.
The selection of King Gaspar keeps the district's participatory model open. The designation will be resolved through a public draw on Friday, October 16 among all registered residents of the district who formalise their application.
The management and participation calendar for the parade is configured as follows:
- Registration for the selection of King Gaspar: from October 1 to 15 at the Auxiliary Registry of the Triana District Headquarters (calle San Jacinto, nº 33). Essential requirement: being registered in the district.
- Registration of children for the floats: throughout the month of October.
- Registration of Bedouins: from November 2 to 27.
As is traditional, the Herald's departure will take place on the afternoon of January 2 and the subsequent parade will be held on the afternoon of January 6, 2027. This event consolidates Triana as the grand festive closure of Christmas in the city, with a route yet to be determined.
