The oldest tournament in the Sports Area of Guillena began this Monday with 12 players in a league format. The semifinals and final will take place after August 21.

The municipal sports centre of Guillena is hosting the forty-fourth edition of the Tennis Championship, the oldest tournament organised by the Sports Area of the Town Hall, since this Monday, August 3. A total of 12 players are participating in this summer event, which will run until August 21.

The tennis players have been divided into two groups of six, who will compete in a league system. At the end of this first phase, the two best from each group will compete in the semifinals, and the winners of those matches will play in the final. Matches are held from Monday to Thursday starting at 8 in the evening, with two matches each day.

The championship, which is celebrating 44 years of history, has become a classic summer event in the locality. The competition takes place on the courts of the municipal sports centre, where fans can follow the matches live.

The league phase will take place over the next three weeks. From August 21, the tournament will enter its decisive phase, with the semifinals and final determining the champion of this edition.
