Seville City Council will begin on Thursday, September 10, the repair of the parking area on Constantina Street, in the Macarena district, damaged by tree roots. The work will last until September 25 and will involve an investment of €14,500.
The Urban Planning Department of Seville City Council will undertake improvement works starting from Thursday, September 10 on Constantina Street, in the Macarena district, to repair the parking area located between Pino Montano Avenue and El Real de la Jara Street.
The parking spaces, located on both sides of the street, were suffering from the effects of tree roots, which had raised part of the pavement and made it difficult for residents to use. The project includes the repair of 170 square meters of the parking area, with edging and concreting work, as well as the renewal of 12 tree pits.
The delegate for Urban Planning and Environment, Juan de la Rosa, explained that these works respond to a demand that residents have been making to the City Council for years. They are part of other interventions in the district that exceed €700,000 in investment and aim to improve the urban environment and the quality of life for residents of Macarena.
During the works, a complete closure of Constantina Street is planned in the section between El Real de la Jara and Pino Montano Avenue from September 10 to 25, from 7:30 to 16:00. An alternative route will be established via Begonia Street, El Real de la Jara, Orfebre Domínguez Vázquez, and Pino Montano Avenue.
“These works respond to a demand that the local residents have been making to the City Council for years and are part of other actions that are being carried out or will be carried out in this district in the coming weeks,” said Juan de la Rosa.
In the Macarena district, other projects are already underway, such as the comprehensive redevelopment of Artesanos Peluqueros Street, with an investment of €461,000 and a timeframe of about six months, which includes reconfiguring the roadway, renewing sewage and supply networks, and improving pavements and lighting.
Works are also being carried out on Llanes Avenue, where more than twenty new parking spaces will be created in two sections measuring 42 and 44 meters, with a budget of €45,000. In the coming weeks, six resurfacing operations will take place on streets such as Santa María del Rocío, Santa María Magdalena, and Fray Luis de Granada, with a total cost of €257,000.
These interventions add to those already completed in the last year, such as the resurfacing of Pino Montano Avenue (over €140,000), the redevelopment of Doctor Antonio Herrera Carmona Street, or the resurfacing of Camino de Cantalobos. In total, the actions in the district amount to around €1 million.
The traffic closure will require drivers to use the alternative route, which could cause delays during peak hours. Residents are advised to allow extra time for their journeys during the two weeks of works.
