The Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Star celebrated today the Main Function in her honour, with the presence of Mayor Manuel Benjumea and the municipal corporation. The procession of the patroness will traverse the streets starting at 20:00.
The Sevillian town of Palomares del Río celebrated this Sunday the Main Function dedicated to its patroness, Our Lady of the Star, a central act of worship that brought together the faithful and authorities at the parish temple.
A delegation from the municipal corporation, led by Mayor Manuel Benjumea, accompanied the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Star during the ceremony, which featured musical accompaniment from the GuiA Project Orchestra. The chords of processional marches played on guitars added a solemn note to the beginning of the celebration.
The Town Hall of Palomares del Río wanted to support one of the major days on the local calendar, where devotion to the Virgin of the Star becomes the axis of social and religious life in the municipality, which has about 9,000 inhabitants.
The day will continue this afternoon with the procession of the patroness, which is expected to traverse the streets of Palomares del Río starting at 20:00. The Town Council invites residents and visitors to participate respectfully and to accompany the Virgin during her route.
The Main Function is the most significant act of worship for the patroness, celebrated each year at this time and bringing together numerous faithful from the Aljarafe region.
