Seville City Council and the platform GetYourGuide have signed a memorandum to promote responsible and balanced tourism. Seville is the first city in Spain to subscribe to this type of agreement.

The Seville City Council, through the Tourism and Culture Department, and the platform GetYourGuide signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday to promote a responsible, balanced, and respectful tourism model for the city and its residents. The agreement was signed by the Tourism delegate, Angie Moreno, and the regional director for Spain and Portugal at GetYourGuide, Toni Bennasar.

The aim is to enhance the cultural heritage of the Andalusian capital and improve the management of tourist flows. To this end, GetYourGuide will periodically share aggregated information with the council about user behaviour, trends, and preferences, in order to support decision-making in the intelligent management of the destination.

Moreno highlighted the importance of tourism for Seville, as it is the activity that generates the greatest impact on income and employment. In this regard, she stated that

“we are working to make tourism compatible with the daily life of the city, seeking a balance between residents and visitors”
and added that agreements like this help to better understand tourism behaviour and make decisions for sustainable development.

Furthermore, both parties will develop communication and marketing campaigns to promote a more diverse offer, encouraging visits to less saturated resources and practices that respect the urban environment. GetYourGuide will also give visibility to strategic cultural events in Seville, such as the Opera Festival, which it sponsored in 2025, and the Flamenco Biennial, with which it collaborated as a sponsor for the first time this year.

With a presence in over 18,000 cities, GetYourGuide works with more than 2,200 local providers in Spain, offering over 10,000 experiences across the country. Spain is one of its most important markets worldwide.

With this signing, Seville becomes the first city in Spain and the second in Europe to sign a memorandum of this kind with GetYourGuide, following the pioneering agreement reached with Florence in September 2025. The company has also recently joined the German National Tourism Board as an official member.

Bennasar explained that

“at GetYourGuide we seek to contribute practically to a more balanced management of tourism, encouraging flows to diversify towards less saturated areas”
and added that the company is proud to act as an “international spokesperson” for Seville's cultural agenda.
