Seville's mayor, José Luis Sanz, visited the facilities of the multinational technology company Teknei at the Galia Puerto Building this Wednesday to back its expansion in the Andalusian capital. The City Council considers this centre a strategic point for attracting private investment and creating skilled jobs.
During the tour, Sanz linked the company's growth with the retention of local talent. "Seville has set the goal of retaining the talent of engineers and graduates who leave our universities each year," he noted, adding that the arrival of companies like Teknei "ensures stable, well-paid job opportunities with future prospects without the need for young Sevillians to emigrate."
The mayor insisted that the municipal administration must keep pace with the private sector. "We cannot demand rigor and speed from companies if the City Council does not respond with the same agility," he stated. In this regard, he mentioned the restructuring of administrative processes to reduce the timeframes for granting licenses and the work of the Sevilla Open for Business and Sevilla Acelera offices to facilitate the establishment of multinationals.
Sanz argued that Teknei's consolidation in the Port of Seville reinforces the city's role as a technological hub in southern Europe. "We are developing an economic model that diversifies the local productive structure, traditionally concentrated in the services sector," he explained, with a positive impact on the availability of high-value-added technical jobs.
Teknei, specialised in IT services, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, aims to reach a turnover of €150 million by 2025, representing an annual growth of over 50%. The recent acquisition of the business process outsourcing division of Indra for €96.6 million has increased its global workforce to over 5,000 professionals, allowing the Seville headquarters to enhance its capacity to operate in European and Latin American markets.
