The Dos Hermanas City Council has taken advantage of the summer to carry out dozens of improvements in public schools. Comprehensive painting, roof repairs, and new awnings are some of the works that will be ready for the return to school.

The Dos Hermanas City Council has completed an extensive maintenance and improvement plan for public schools in the municipality, executed during the summer months to ensure the facilities are ready before the start of the new school year. The works, coordinated by the Department of Education, have included everything from comprehensive painting to roof repairs and adaptation of interior spaces.

Among the most notable actions is the comprehensive painting of the 19 de Abril and Las Portadas schools, as well as the adaptation of interior spaces in the CEIP Federico García Lorca to improve functionality. The toilets in the Los Montecillos, Fernán Caballero, and Poetas Andaluces schools have also been remodelled.

The patios and exteriors have been another focus of intervention. Improvements have been made in the Infant patios of the El Palmarillo, Juan Ramón Jiménez, and Carlos I schools, and pavements have been replaced in the outdoor spaces of Rafael Alberti, Ana María Matute, Consolación, and Federico García Lorca. Meanwhile, the City Council has continued the installation of awnings in educational centres to expand shaded areas, a measure that will be progressively extended.

The repair of roofs and improvement of waterproofing have also been part of the summer works. In the CEIP Carlos I, new asphalt membranes have been installed, while other centres have addressed enclosures and space adaptations. This includes the remodelling of stairwells in the CEIP Consolación, the replacement of the enclosure in the CEIP Valme Coronada, the repair of the CEIP Cervantes, and the new metal enclosure in the Infant patio of the CEIP Fernán Caballero.

The list of improvements is completed with the adaptation of a classroom as a school dining room in the CEIP San Sebastián and with painting and conditioning works in the Huerta de la Princesa, Juan Ramón Jiménez, and M. Dolores Velasco schools, in addition to the improvement of sports courts at the CEIP Olivar de Quintos and CPR Adriano.

These interventions add to the conservation work that the City Council carries out throughout the year in public schools, with minor works in masonry, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and metalwork. In the last days before the return to the classrooms, municipal services are conducting a final review, cleaning, and conditioning of the centres to welcome students and teachers normally.
