The Utrera City Council enhances safety and reconciliation during the Consolation Fair with the Violet Point, identification bracelets, and a free play area at CEIP Al-Ándalus.
The Utrera City Council, through its Equality and Social Welfare department, has activated a special prevention and support device for the Fair and Festivities of Our Lady of Consolation, which will take place from September 4 to 8. The initiative includes the Violet Point, a support service for women, and a Reconciliation Space with a free play area at CEIP Al-Ándalus.
The delegate for Equality and Social Welfare, Alba Padilla, explained that the aim is for “everyone to enjoy our Fair and do so freely and safely.” To this end, resources have been arranged to address both the prevention of sexist aggression and family reconciliation during the festive days.
The Violet Point will be located next to the CECOP and will operate during the five days of the Fair, from 18:00 to 06:00 hours, with specialized staff. Additionally, a specific phone line, 660 016 016, has been set up for information, advice, or assistance in any harassment situation.
“Prevention is essential, but it is also important that any woman knows that if she needs help, she will find a nearby resource and professionals ready to assist and accompany her,” Padilla noted. Alongside this service, a Support Service will be offered for women who need to travel safely: security personnel will be able to accompany them on foot from the booths to the main entrance of the fairgrounds, where they can connect with a taxi or bus.
The Reconciliation Space will be set up at CEIP Al-Ándalus, next to the fairgrounds, and will open from September 5 to 8, from 15:00 to 20:00 hours. It will feature a lactation area with no age limit, equipped with armchairs, changing tables, a sink, and a microwave, as well as a free play area for children aged 3 to 8, with monitors and activities such as games, storytelling, workshops, treasure hunts, dancing, and mini theatre.
The maximum stay in the play area will be three hours per child, and spaces will be limited. To use it, families must make a prior registration and reserve a time slot through a form available in the space itself. During the stay, the responsible adult must remain within the fairgrounds and be reachable by phone. For inquiries, the phone number 690 222 340 has been set up, available from 15:00 to 20:00 hours.
As an additional measure, free identification bracelets for children will be distributed, with a contact number to facilitate their location in case of loss. They can be collected at CECOP and CEIP Al-Ándalus during the Fair days. Children using the play area will receive a bracelet with an emergency contact upon arrival.
“Reconciliation should also be present during leisure and celebration moments,” Padilla argued, emphasizing that the goal is for families to enjoy the Fair with resources designed for the needs of the little ones.
